The concessions are situated in the Gokwe region, which is known for its natural resources and wildlife.
Although the Gokwe North is a massive area covering millions upon million of acres, the main hunting area is situated in the Kausiga Valley.
The Kautsiga River is a river which flows into the Umi River, where the camp is situated. The area is well known for good herds of Buffalo, Elephant and has very good leopard hunting.
The hunting camp has comfortable lodgings with en-suite bathroom and toilet facilities, dining area, campfire area and the camp has Wi-Fi access. The camp is run on solar lights and generator.
Gokwe South like the Gokwe North is extremely vast in extent, however, the main attraction of Gokwe South is as follows, a place called the Ëxercise Area”which is roughly 60 000 to 70 000 acres inside what is known as the Chirisa Safari Area and the Sengwa Research Area.
The Ëxercise Area” was awarded to the people of the Gokwe South as compensation due to human/wildlife conflict.
Therefore, although a CAMPFIRE Area One will hunt where there are no people. The area offers very good buffalo hunting as well as decent Elephant hunting particularly Tuskless and there is also decent leopard in the area.
The hunting camp has comfortable lodgings with en-suite bathroom and toilet facilities, dining area, campfire area and the camp has Wi-Fi access. The camp is run on solar.
In both the Gokwe North and Gokwe South Elephant Bull expectations are around 30-35 pounds. In both the Gokwe North and South areas we endeavour to offer a more exclusive safari where hunters can hunt on a 1 x 1 basis or alternatively if hunters want to hunt on a 2 x 1 basis, therefore, not putting unnecessary pressure into either area.
The option of hippo and croc are available in both areas, however, it must be noted that these hunts are not done from the main hunting camps and fly camping is required. This hunting takes place on the Sinyati river which is a major river that flows into Lake Kariba. Both the Gokwe North and South are remote areas and the hunting in both areas is challenging but rewarding.
This hunting location is a top choice for those seeking an unforgettable big game hunting adventure in a stunning natural setting.
Sondelani Lodge is situated along what is known as the Bulawayo Beitbridge highway thus making access to this lodge very easy from Bulawayo by a simple 2.5-hour drive. This area is situated around 220kms south of Bulawayo.
The lodge has comfortable accommodation facilities available, with no less than 6 fully serviced chalets able to sleep 2 people per chalet all with en-suite bathroom and toilet facilities. There is also a fully serviced dining room and bar area. From the lodge there is an awesome view overlooking the dam and surrounding hunting area.
The Lodge is run on generator, there is no wifi at the lodge. It’s an ideal location for a hunter to bring his wife and family and even for 2 hunters to enjoy each other’s company on a more affordable hunt budget as well as for group hunts.
The hunting area is game fenced along its perimeter and is around 20 000 acres in extent and does have populations of Impala, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Kudu, Warthog, Eland and Zebra, we also have a second area which is a 1 hour drive from Sondelani where we can also take extra plains game species and Nyala.
However, the main attraction is for Buffalo. There is a population of around 250 buffalo present on Sondelani with great opportunity for dagga boy hunting.
Through careful off take of a limited number of Buffalo bulls per year on an exclusive basis for the hunter, we can offer the serious Buffalo hunter an affordable but challenging fair chase safari. The Buffalo that inhabit this area have been hunted here for more than 20 years thus are an established population and are very wise to the sounds and smells that emanate from hunters.
Therefore, a fair amount of walking, glassing and extremely careful stalking in the thick bush will be required to bag a decent trophy Buffalo that Sondelani offers. Trophy size for Buffalo – hard headed mature bulls from mid- thirties to low forties
